While Homeworks Etc offers amazing DIY workshops for adults wanting to try their hand at creating hand-made décor for their homes, our space is designed to welcome kids, too! We are happy to provide opportunities for your children to also learn a new craft, and to leave our shop with a cool, personal, ‘made-by-me’ addition for their room at home.
Kids Club presents a roster of fun and easy projects for you and your kids (ages 5 to 10), in workshop format. We provide an outlet for your kids to express their creativity through art, in a small, relaxing, and inviting social setting.
Did you know that crafting can teach children problem-solving and planning? We plant the idea of a goal or end-product, and guide your child to the completed project outcome with simple, gentle instruction. What a confidence-building achievement!
And along the way, your child develops dexterity and fine motor skills, in addition to using auditory, visual and kinaesthetic learning styles.
This month’s feature DIY Kids Club workshop is a String Art project, offered on Wednesday, June 21st. String art is characterized by an arrangement of coloured thread strung between points to form geometric patterns. Thread is wound around a grid of nails hammered into a block of wood – and in this specific workshop project, the grid is shaped like a heart.
It’s a fun and easy project, and the outcome is eye-catching. Your child has a choice of string colour, and stain colour for the wood. All supplies are provided.
We invite you and your little ones to come join us for our next String Art workshop!
